The best wedding ever…period.
Tessa & Frank automatically win the award for my favorite couple/wedding ever. Tessa is my sister & has been my built in bff (and sometimes punching bag) since day 1. We’ve been through everything together & she is my best friend. Fast forward 21 years & here’s how the story goes. Tess goes to Florida for a soccer scholarship in college. An Italian Catholic from New Jersey fist pumps his way to the same school in Florida for a scholarship playing baseball. The two become friends & Frank starts falling for Tess. She only cares about soccer & officially friend zones Frank. Frank ignores her for 2 weeks (thanks to a challenge by his roomie Sean & his lovely lady Dayami.) Tess comes crawling back to Frank once she realizes she misses him & has an interest in this funny, genuine guy. They date, fall in love, and immediately begin a long distance relationship. Horrible, right? These two maintained a relationship throughout 4 different states, 3 different countries, and what felt like 50 different time zones. Their focus on quality time together when possible, their relationship and faith in God, and their ability to put the other person first while always following their dreams led them to their wedding day last September. It must be noted that Frank’s probably the only man in the history of the universe who not only asked our mom & dad permission to marry their baby girl, but also asked my brother & me as well.
I’m so excited to share the gorgeous photos & details from their day, but I have to share what I wish I had said at their wedding (and probably would have remembered to say if I’d slept for any of the nights 2 weeks prior.) Tess is the most thoughtful, loving, beautiful & compassionate person I could ever have the good fortune of knowing & growing up with..she gets that from our mom. She’s also the funniest person ever & will always challenge you to strive for more & show tough love when needed, traits I can attribute to our dad. Everyone knows I fell in love with my baby sister early on (despite tons of middle child tantrums, I’m sure.) God brought Frank into her life because he truly brings out all of her amazing qualities even more than I imagined possible. Moving on to Frank: although Tessa knew early on that he was “the one”, it took me a bit longer to get to know him since the two of them were traveling & he wasn’t back in STL much. I will never forget the moment I realized Frank was the perfect fit for my sister. I was at his family’s home in New Jersey & Frank & Tess were out on a date. I stayed back with Frank’s mom & dad. His dad got to telling me stories after a few glasses of red wine, and talked about how Frankie was as a kid, how close he’s always been with his family, and how he always had a great perspective on life & how to treat other people. I remember hearing a story (which I can’t tell because I wouldn’t do it justice) & crying in the Florio’s kitchen after Mr. Florio shared it because I realized just how perfect of a man Frank was for my best friend & baby sister. These two are truly a work of Gods grace & love & their relationship is one many envy. I absolutely adore you two & am so honored that I was able to design a day that was as lovely & perfect as the two of you! The entire weekend was Heaven on Earth. Tessa & Frank: thank you for challenging me to never settle for anything less than I deserve & for loving me through everything. You are my best friends & I love you both. Cheers to a lifetime of fun & getting pitted together!
